"Bedlam" With Theo James - Episode 1 Preview
Don't forget "Bedlam" is starting tomorrow night on BBCAmerica.
Two good-looking men are driving down a dark, weathered road in the middle of the night, having a heated conversation about something a bit otherworldly. During a pivotal moment when one man gets angry, his eyes go black until the other man can convince him to just “let go.” Sounds familiar to many of you Supernatural fans, right? But though imagery in BBC America’s Bedlam may remind you of some of the lore and genre stories that have come before it, the characters are colorful in their own special way.
At the end of the opening scene of the premiere of Bedlam, only one man remains in the car: Jed (the dashing Theo James), a young man who can see ghosts in present day and can see flashes of visions of a ghost’s previous experience. Though young and model-good-looking, Jed wears his “gift” as a burden that sits squarely between his shoulders and touches everything and everyone with whom he comes into contact. Convincing the ghost that he is dead is really the least of what Jed can do, and it’s the perfect way to ease you into the weird that’s about to come. Because Jed is about to step foot in Bedlam Heights, a sprawling new apartment complex built out of an old mental institution. His adopted cousin Kate (Charlotte Salt) runs the apartment complex, her not-so-distant relatives having run the hospital when it was in existence. And though Jed heads there for what he assumes will be a one-off, strange text messages (finally spirits have found a way to actually utilize our technology; not just wreak havoc with it!) soon prove he may have to stick around for the long haul.
